Avast! adalah sebuah program anti-virus yang dikembangkan oleh ALWIL Software yang berdomisili di Praha, Republik Ceko, program ini pertama kali dirilis pada tahun 1988. Avast! adalah salah satu program-antivirus yang pertama dirilis untuk Windows x64. Avast! 4 Home adalah program antivirus freeware yang tersedia bagi pengguna Microsoft Windows dan Linux. Pada bulan Oktober 2008 Avast! edisi Gratis telah diunduh sebanyak 32 juta kali di situs Download.com.[2] Sedangkan pada tanggal 7 Maret, 2008 Avast! edisi rumah telah dimiliki oleh 60 juta pengguna yang terdaftar.[3]

Avast! juga ditargetkan untuk mencegah beberapa ancaman komputer, termasuk beberapa program yang secara harafiah bukan virus komputer seperti spyware, bahkan anti-spyware palsu, dan juga menyediakan basis data pemulihan (recovery database) yang akan memulihkan data yang terinfeksi, bukan menghapusnya.
